Bachelor of legislative laws is the undergraduate professional degree pursued by students to get into legal domain or profession. LL.B. is abbreviated as Legum Baccalaureus (Bachelor of Laws).
As quoted by Benjamin Franklin " Lawyers are the foot soldiers of our constitution." As a part of this nation , we can very well relate to these sayings by Benjamin Franklin . From famous politicians to freedom fighters, a lawyer have played many roles in history as well as in present . All the accomplishments of the lawyers around the world very well inspire us to pursue legal profession . But still the question remains the same, "what are the career options after LL.B. ?"
The course covers the study of legal principles, legal procedures, international laws , corporate governance and much more. There are ample opportunities after LL.B..
Below are some major opportunities available to law graduates.
Advocate
Advocacy is one of the chief professions chosen by law graduates. After completing graduation one can choose this option and can practice in courts. After graduation one has to pass the bar exam to get his/her license . Once they enrol in all India bar council, they can practice across the country.
Lawyers can become legal counsel or legal advisor for corporates, firms, government department, legal person, individual and so on. They can also work as trustees of various trusts.
There is a journey to become an efficient advocate. One must practice as a junior assistant under any senior advocate to gain knowledge and expertise. This profession is a practical profession where one must not stop to learn . One must gain knowledge of drafting files and studying legal documents and cases. This would help them gain different aspects of law and will help them build their own perspective.

Government Services
After completing graduation , the student possessing prerequisite qualifications can be recruited for Indian legal services which includes legislative counsel in the legislative department and legal advisor in department of legal affairs. For these positions the student must qualify exam conducted by Public service commission .
Students can qualify for various other jobs in government departments. One can join the Air force, Indian navy and Indian army. The student is also eligible to appear for exams conducted by Union public service commission for the posts of I.A.S. . One can become Assistant Public Prosecutor or Public Prosecutor of various states and departments.
Judiciary
Law graduates can opt for joining the third organ of the government - the judiciary. One must qualify the exam conducted by the State Public Commissions and can join as a Magistrate/munsif or Sub Judge . The exams are conducted in the supervision of respective state High Courts. The Magistrate judges the criminal cases and the Sub judge judges the civil cases. These judges can be promoted to District judges and even High court and Supreme court judges depending upon the seniority and suitability.
The minimum requirement of this exam is that the student must not be over 35 years.
The exam is held in three various steps and each step has to be qualified to attempt the another. It comprises of preliminary exam, mains exam and the interview.

Teaching
Those with excellent academic record and obtaining LLM or phd degrees can be a good fit for professors of law in any university or law college in the country.
Those who have excellent skills to explain the topics quite well can do wonders in this field .
One can also join government universities based on the requirements of the university.
Legal Researcher
It is a person who handles the case related researches and tries to find the loopholes in the case. They are hired by lawyers to gain deeper insights of the case and explore all the possibilities to win the case. Judges also hire legal researcher to have proper insight of the case.
Legal Analyst
This is great choice in case of financial law. Law graduates can work for organisations and companies to do analysis on legal sphere of the company. License to practice law is needed to be legal analyst. Legal analyst can assist advocates in the cases and they can draft files and handle legal documents.
LL.M. OR Ph.D.
Law graduates can always opt for higher education which will help them gain deeper knowledge in a particular domain of their interest.
There are various fields for expertise like international law, cyber law, family law, corporate law and arbitration.

Politics
Law graduates can enter into politics and be a politician as politicians are policy makers and with the knowledge of law one can excel into this field. One can take part in the governance of the country . If you have a political background , then it is quite beneficial .
Indian history of politics gives us the best set examples that lawyers are the best politicians. Many great lawyers have served as politicians in our country
Writing / journals/reports.
If one understands the intricacies of law and has the passion for writing, then this is the right profession for you. You can prepare reports for law publications based on latest judgements and famous cases. You can write and edit books studied by law students.
Corporate Or Private Companies
After completing law, one can join a private firm or company as a legal advisor and help them sought out their legal matters. Nowadays, there is great scope for law graduates to join law firms across the country. They give you well paid jobs and saves you from the initial struggle of advocacy. If you want to excel in this domain , you can go for an M.B.A. and it would fetch you excellent pay as you can take part in the business administration too.

Legal Outsourcing
Legal outsourcing refers to a law firm or corporate legal department obtaining legal support services from an external law firm or legal support services firm. It is also known as Legal Process outsourcing (LPO). Outsourcing refers to contracting out the internal work process or business process to third party organisation. This is the new and upcoming opportunity for lawyers of India. There are plethora of services which are being outsourced such as legal research, document reviewing, etc. When the legal service provider is situated outside the country it is called offshoring . Many legal processes can be outsourced except those which requires physical presence or face to face conversation. This legal process outsourcing has gained momentum in the recent times. There is still need for more lawyers and legal personnels to discover this field as in upcoming times it will gain new heights in our country.
